Major Attractions at the Moscow Kremlin
The Kremlin is comprised of a number of individual buildings. From cathedrals to museums, you won't run out of things to see. We recommend starting with the Armoury Chamber where you'll get to see the renowned treasure-house.
From there you'll head on over to Senatskaya Square. It is here that you can see the monument dedicated to the epoch of Peter the Great. You'll also catch a glimpse of the Senate building, created by the famous architect Matvei Kazakov. A stroll around the arsenal will provide you with an opportunity to view some of the artillery the Russian army captured during the Patriotic War of 1812.
The stunning imagery at Cathedral Square will astound you as well. The Assumption Cathedral, the Church of Laying Our Lady's Holy Robe, and the other cathedrals are simply breathtaking in size, intricate architecture, and distinct beauty.
Special Exhibitions at the Moscow Kremlin
Throughout the year you'll find different special exhibitions in the buildings at The Kremlin. Each brings with it an opportunity for visitors to learn a little more about the history that shaped the country.
From September 5th through November 16th, 2008, for example, you will find a stunning exhibition at the Patriarch's Palace in the One-Pillar Chamber. This stunning collection features British fashions from the collection kept at the Victoria and Albert Museum, spanning two centuries of fashion and change. From gowns to petticoats, and walking suits to shoes, this collection will help educate visitors as the evolution of dress in the United Kingdom.
Exhibitions change regularly and can be found in halls throughout the entire Kremlin. Earlier this year, for example, there was a collection of Japanese Samurai treasures. In the middle of 2007 there was a display of antique jewelry from the renowned Cartier firm in France. The Kremlin museums offer a variety of educational opportunities year round.
Educational Tours of the Moscow Kremlin
The Moscow Kremlin offers a variety of options when it comes to touring the sites. While you are certainly welcome to tour the courtyards and cathedrals on your own, you may benefit from a guided tour.
