Getting Around

Moscow suffers from traffic congestion. During the rush hour the fastest way to get around is by using Moscow metro (subway). You can buy a subway pass at any metro station. The metro works from 5:20AM till 1AM.

Taxi (either official or private) is another alternative. If you stand on a sidewalk and wave, usually you can get a ride within minutes. This is reasonably safe. Make sure to negotiate the price before you get into the car. If you want an official taxi, check local yellow pages or the Internet for the phone number to call.

Driving your own car in Moscow can be a frustrating and time-consuming experience, unless you know the city well.

Public buses are available throughout the city. They are cheap and reliable, but slow.
